Project Description:
This project modernizes a traditional home while maintaining its architectural integrity. The design sought to create an interesting yet sophisticated aesthetic, seamlessly tying together a large red brick detached house with a modern and considered extension. A single-storey flat-roof extension enhances open-plan living, while a loft conversion with dormers creates additional space. The redesign carefully balances contemporary interventions with respect for the existing architectural character, ensuring a harmonious blend of old and new.
The entire rear extension is open plan, offering fantastic views and a strong connection to the large, expansive garden. Sliding doors provide direct garden access, while a sheltered canopy enhances the façade. Upgraded fenestration and a fresh rendered finish contribute to a visually cohesive exterior, striking a balance between contemporary aesthetics and the existing architectural language. Inside, a refined material palette ensures a seamless transition between spaces, while strategically positioned glazing maximises natural light intake.
Beyond its visual appeal, the renovation significantly improves the home's functionality and energy efficiency. High-quality insulation, sustainable materials, and efficient heating solutions ensure long-term performance. By reimagining spatial flow and maximising connectivity between indoor and outdoor areas, the project delivers a thoughtful and highly liveable family home that meets modern lifestyle needs while respecting its traditional roots.
